Sam & Nicole's Seattle Wedding Weekend: Thur & Fri / dinner / reception / cruise / baseball game / Sunday / official
Celebratory Dinner at Buca Di Beppo!
On Friday, July 27th, friends and relatives traveled from North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New York, Connecticut and points beyond to join Sam and Nicole for the first scheduled event of their wedding weekend!
Mike and Matt catch up with Karen and Ben Sarah nods approvingly as Barry's jaw drops upon noticing Dan's new moustache.
Sam - pleased to see his old bandmate (from The Big Rock), Mike
Finding the back room was maybe a tiny bit like that restaurant scene in Goodfellas - we wound our way through the kitchen area, taking dozens of turns and passing scores of other diners.
Nicole's Family
Mike (the WXJM business manager before Sam assumed that role)
mmm! appetizers!
Nicole's sister meets Kristen and Keri
Nicole's sister (Kristin) and Nicole
Nicole reminds her guests to arrive early at the Smith Tower (to better enjoy the classic Otis elevator).
Sam and Nicole talk with Nicole's mom before thanking everyone for traveling to Seattle.
Sam reminds everyone about the boat cruise: it leaves at 7pm and you better not forget because this isn't a middle school classroom and there aren't going to be any handouts (I laughed and smiled about this as Sam was classic Sam during this very stressful weekend).
and then it was time for ice cream (which is almost as good as cake)
Tim and Josh enjoy one last bite as Dan contemplates buying a new iBook.
As dinner became "after dinner drinks" the JMU alumni found a corner and caught up on the past half a decade.
Barry, Jamie and Dan
Sarah and Jen ( non-JMU graduates who, with ease, became part of the group)
Because I'd had most of a bottle of wine, I treated Seattle like New York and marched Keri and Kristen a dozen (it's only three more!) blocks to Shorty's Coney Island in Belltown. Dan and a few others traveled by car (based on my drunken directions) and made it to the video game hotspot only five minutes before we did. I mentioned it was raining heavily the whole time, right?
Kristen and Barry - had last call been sometime after 1:35am, the pinball duels would have gotten much more serious.
I spent all of 45 seconds playing Galaga (the wine and beer and Seattle rain had worn me down).
Josh struggles with the first screen of Donkey Kong Junior - only to learn (a day late) that either Mike or Tim is a master when it comes to this arcade game.
Sarah searches - and finds - one more quarter!
