Dave Eggers and Sarah Vowell

POLITICS IN PROSE in Washington, DC

I spent Saturday evening with my friends Pl and H. Neither appear on my website enough. I was in Virginia for the weekend visiting my parents and it was decided on Friday afternoon that we should go to the reading given by Dave Eggers and Sarah Vowell. At that moment I regretted not packing my copy of McSweeney's #4. It just wouldn't fit in my backpack and I figured I'd sleep on the bus and wouldn't feel the urge to read it. I just didn't know.

P and H look on as Dave Eggers (founder of Might and publisher of McSweeney's) signs his new book A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

Like I said, I failed to bring anything to the mid-Atlantic that was worthy of being signed.

H and P couldn't be more ecstatic! After the reading, it was off to dinner where we dined in true city fashion (ordering our meal after 10pm and staying well into the night). We were eventually forced out of the restaurant by wild fanfare and a blare of kazoos. Or maybe the stereo was turned up just a bit too loud.
