questions

Do you pay attention to smooth transitions on a mix or do you not care? What about a perfect transition?

If you were making a mix of disturbing songs, what would you put on it?

If you had to pick one song to start every mix, what would it be?

How do you title your mixes? Favorite title?

Cover art? Process?

Any helpful hints?

Any particular mix / theme of mix you are most proud of?

If you had to pick one song to start every mix, what would it be?

Rebecca Gates - "Empty Heart" - The Rolling Stones)

Jonathan Richman - What? (He takes out his earplugs.) What? A mix tape? Um…. I don’t know about that. I don’t know.

Ian (The Make-Up) - I’ll assume it would have to be short, wouldn’t it?

Simone (Blonde Redhead) - "Back to the Denim" by Denim.

Kazu (Blonde Redhead) - "Cocksucker Blues" by the Rolling Stones or "Whenever You’re Ready"- The Zombies

Amedeo Pace (Blonde Redhead) - "Un’avventura" by Lucio Battisti

Adam (Adult) - Maybe "Adrenaline" by Throbbing Gristle. Hard Question.

Skippy (March) - Teenage Fanclub "Start Again"

Mark Mallman - Some type of fanfare is always good, not as a song really, but as more of an intro - like the way they sing the national anthem before a sporting event. Sports fans probably hear that song more than any other in their lives I bet. But I've never made a mix for a sports fan before...hmmm...maybe I would put that "Are You Ready to Rumble" song on too, that's kind of like the national anthem in ways also.

Bob (Shellac) - I don't know. I like a lot of songs.

Dave Nelson (The Insteps) - O-R-I-O-L-E-S (Something Magic Happens...)

Jamie (Leka) - That's virtually impossible. Given the choice between death and choosing one song, I suppose I could be happy with "Top Pocket Man" by Chavez, "Silver Vein" by Versus or "A Salty Salute" by Guided by Voices

Jason (The Bronx) - Take your pick, there's never just one:
"Pay to come"- Bad Brains "Shimmy shimmy Ya"- O.D.B. "Ass n Titties"- Dj Assault

Rishi (Space Mitten) - NBC's NBA Theme Song. I would also play this song when I enter and exit my house if I could.

Jen (All Girl Summer Fun Band) - Probably that Push Kings song "Famous"

Tim (The Sames) - "Our dog Is An Awesome Dog." Actually this title was slightly adjusted by my wife and I. Supposed to be "Our God is an Awesome God" from a "Songs for Worship" collection that was flooding the TV waves a year or two ago. But our version would first have to be recorded, of course.

Sam (Pacific Stereo) - Arrgh, the possibilties are endless. Here is a top 5 list.

1. "Precision Auto" (Superchunk)
2. "Motor Away" (GBV)
3. "A Movie Scipt Ending" (Death Cab for Cutie)
4. "Baba O'Reily" (The Who)
5. "Crowned in Chrome" (Crooked Fingers)

Jack (The National Trust) - "Start" - The Jam

Chris M. (The Hecklers) - "Happy" - Rolling Stones

Jeremy (Arctic Skies) - hmm...Metallica's "Battery," The Troggs' "With a Girl Like You" or John Zorn's "Hekhal."

Dan (Crispus Attucks) - "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band" - Bill Cosby and the Salvation Army Band

Eric Plumley - "Kings of the Party" Brownsville Station.
