i'll be honest. i woke up pretty late monday. between the drinking and the pool and the incredibly late hour i was exhausted. my memorial day got off to a late start...but i still managed to get a photo of diana calculating the weekend's bills. memorial day wouldn't be memorial day without all those receipts spread out on the table.
kynan finishes his breakfast and catches up on some work.
a miniature alex sits in the corner of the miniature pool. kaci opts for a lite beer, as the day's supplies have yet to be replenished.

the afternoon couldn't be more casual and it deserves to be spent poolside.
before the large group photo, mike, jamie and alex enjoy the heated pool. had i really been thinking i would've gotten individual photos of those who left early and composited them into the photos below. one would think that i've taken enough time in posting these photos to have actually done that work. i will think ahead next time.
monday afternoon is all about the pool.
and i take a trip to the grocery store with kynan. through my fine powers of persuasion, i convince him that we need to visit the brew thru, if only for the photo opportunity.
the experience was as much of a let down as i expected it to be. i don't think i'd ridden into a brew thru in twenty years.
look! look at the pirate ship jungle gym in front of the monstrous rental house.
after the trip for beer, i strolled toward the beach where i found a game of what can only be called "street tennis." i'm pretty sure there's a version coming soon for ps2.
with the nearby tennis court full, tina makes sure to save the ball from being lost in the grass.
on the beach, there's more throwing of things. the sky is a bit overcast and the lack of sun worshippers allows mitch and jason to toss the frisbee with gusto.
or maybe mitch is just practicing tai-chi.

after a few more well-exectued moves, and one not so well-executed move, the frisbee disappears into the ocean. unbeknownst to jason and mitch, a similar event will happen twenty minutes later when jamie knocks a whiffle ball outside the pool fence.
before the whiffle ball action begins, the tennis players have found themselves on the real court. jake watches melissa serve.
tina showcases her grace...and alex, well, he works on becoming comfortable with the racquet.
