To the Midwest!
The 2006 baseball trip will take Listmaker and me to the heartland. While much of our time will be spent driving from one town to another, we'll have some free time. And I need to know where to eat, where to drink and what to see.
The early July trip will send us to:
St. Louis (a day and a half, including a Gateway Grizzlies game)
Little Rock (just enough time for a ballgame)
Memphis (Hot Tub Eric will be showing us around)
The Quad Cities (just enough time for a few Swings of the bat, I think)
Danville, IL (Planbreaker & df plan to join us for a game)
and Kansas City (a day and a half)
That sounds like mondo travel, so distractions are a must! Please leave comments below.

Ted Drewes custard in St. Louis is a must and Gates BBQ and the Negro Leagues Museum in KC are probably worth the trip. Have fun!

Go for LC's Barbecue when in KC.
Also: Try the Krispy Kreme Burger at Gateway Grizzlies. It's a burger. With Krispy Kremes for a bun.

(i'm a friend of df and planbreaker): in memphis, for really terrific blues, go to wild bill's. it's a little out of the way, but you're hearty. and the folks there are friendly to out of towners. you won't regret it.

Oh, the burger with the Krispy Kremes is definitely part of the plan. I've been excited about it for the past week and a half!

Anybody with a site named "Balgavy.com" can't be all bad. Drop me a line -- I'll buy you a beer when you buzz through the greater Little Rock area on your Midwest Tour. Travs are hit-and-miss this year (mainly miss), but there's fun to be had on the river.

Adam, thanks for the link. My excitement for this ballgame increases every day. I've never eaten cheese on a burger, so I'm not sure I'll be able to offer a suitable guest post. I'll let you know after I try one. I hope to be able to get it without cheese.
John, we should try to meet up. I won't be in Little Rock for long, but send me an email - marc726 [at] hotmail [dot] com.

i wanted to do a guest post about the krispy kreme burger but now i'm not going on the trip. balgavy, don't let us down. eat the cheese.
wild bill's in mamphis is awesome. anyplace that fancies up pork rinds by dumping a big into a lined red basket is a-ok with me!

We'll show you some good places in central Illinois while you're here, hopefully, but you also need to try to plan lunch or dinner in Columbia, MO -- Shakespeare's Pizza is the bomb.
