watching expired appliances align

i just watched the final out in the houston / st. louis baseball playoff game. i think i heard a "whoosh" on that last strikeout. is that possible? am i hearing things? is fox "enhancing" the feel of the game for me?

during last night's yankees / red sox game i laughed at the audible "cracking" of the bat whenever there was a replay of a big hit. that sound effect was gone tonight, replaced by "whooooop" - sort of like a tiny slingshot firing. did anyone else hear these sounds? am i just making this up?

i'm all for a mic aimed at second base that captures the sound of a player sliding and stealing a base, but fake hit and strikeout sounds? what is this EA sports' MVP baseball 2004?
