simple perfection

i'm in the midst of drinking a 12 oz. coca-cola from an aluminum can. the taste is absolutely perfect. it's easily the best coca-cola i've had in years. i can't explain why it's so good. i think it's because i just had a good slice of pizza and i still have a bit of the flour on my hands and inbetween my fingers. my taste buds are ready for something sharp and refreshing and this dust on my fingers sort of removes me from the work in front of me. and then i sip from that can. it's hot outside and i think about the cold soda i'm drinking. it just puts me in a happy mood and reminds me of when i used to travel decades ago and stop at various welcome centers that greeted visitors with small cups of pepsi (i think it was always pepsi when i was traveling). that splash of soda is just that unexpected thrill to the afternoon. and there's something about the metal-ness of the can that makes this soda taste much better than if it had been delivered to my lips via plastic.

this was like soda porn.

i guess we can assume it was a C2.

it wasn't a C2. I saw that in the store last night, though. it kind of scared me.

i still haven't figured out why i love soda out of a can, but not as much out of a bottle wheras i can't stand beer out of a can but don't mind it out of a bottle.

where is apes when you need him? he'd explain the science of this to me.

soda from a glass bottle or a plastic bottle? beer from a plastic bottle (like at a ball game) or a glass bottle?

i'm not apes and this is certainly not scientific, but for me, it's all about the feel of the material (yuck, aluminum!) and maybe the temperature. glass seems cool, like the drink. a can feels like it's going to cut my lip.

i love procrastinating!

supposedly, the official way to drink cola is out of those little glass bottles. so says an official coca cola person that i met through circumstances i can't remember. i think.

Amy, get back to work.

Also I like to drink soda out of a bottle, but really only because I'm super clumsy and it makes me feel secure to be able to reseal the container between sips.

Marc and Jamie should take over Knowledge for Thirst, I'm so bored of it.

i'm for glass bottles.

Wonder which company invented the 12 oz. can.....hmmmmmmmmmm.........

i bought a 4 pack of the Boylan's Black Cherry soda in glass bottles while in Columbus, and all i can say is that i need to have access to this product (the grape or other fruit-type flavors will also suffice) at all times. i'm so happy right now just thinking about going home an opening a fresh one.

the glass bottle of Grape Crush from Chris & Mary's wedding goody bag was the inspiration. that was damn fine.

soda in a can gets colder than soda in a plastic bottle which is one reason i almost always like the cans better. too often i simply go for the extra 8 oz. when size shouldn't be the arbiter of the purchase.

just noticed you guys chatting - i'm trying to come up with an invention for resealing soda cans - it does taste better from aluminium but how do you keep it from spilling/fresh?? i'm going to patent my idea and make millions!
