my friends are all about the radio dial these days!

chris larry has a run down on his experiences with listening to AIR AMERICA RADIO during the past few months. this is a must-read for anyone who has never listened to the station (that would be me) and is curious to know what it's all about.

and jamie says XM satellite radio is the "bomb diggity!" or is that just "the bomb." he didn't say that about it. is the right phrase ..satellite radio is "bomb diggity"? anyway, it made him use the phrase in a blog entry and that's a-ok with me.

maybe three out of the five week days when i walk toward the subway from my apartment i feel like a robot. but only on my left side. that side of my body is weighed down with gadgets and gizmos. because it's warm outside there's no need for a jacket, and that reduces the number of pockets i have on my person.

on my waist, i've got a clip for my pager and a clip for my ipod (with the necessary headphone cable snaking toward my ears). if i had a cell phone, it would probably reside in a similar area - all on my left side. my front left pants pocket is also where i keep my wallet, filled with cards that have magnetic strips. (attention thieves: now that you know where i carry the wallet please note there is usually very little cash in it).

i don't have a newspaper subscription anymore, so i read my palm pilot on the subway, which is updated every morning via AvantGo. sometimes i carry this device in my hands. if my pockets are big enough, i slide it into the same pocket as my wallet. occasionally, i'll tuck it into a pocket on my shirt, making me feel very geek like.

now if i could just get a pedometer, i'd be all set. i really would be bionic at that point.

later today i need to remember to talk about why i think i'm becoming a bionic human and the potential pitfalls of doing so (both becoming and thinking about becoming, of course).

(i had this all figured out on the walk to the subway but the details are slipping from my grasp. may brain is not yet a computer and i refuse to carry a notepad around with me)

because i believe that no event can be over-documented, i've just posted a few of donovan's photos from chris and mary's wedding. this group of photos also includes pictures from a party that mike and kara hosted the night before the wedding. i took photos that night but have yet to post them. please note that i cropped and altered the color on some of the photos from donovan. i also chose to post just a portion of the photos he took. i hope he won't be mad at me for this. there are a lot of fireworks photos. i think i'm responsible for a number of those as i was in a giddy fireworks photo taking mood just as the memory card for my camera came up full.

amie p. also sent me a few great photos from the wedding. i've posted them on balgavy.com and they're worth checking out this very second.

lastly, i'd be remiss if i forget to mention that dan took a number of fun and interesting photos at the wedding (i've now added a link to his photos from the main chris and mary wedding page @ balgavy.com). go check those out, too, if you haven't seen them. then look at some of his more recent photos from jamie's wedding.

i'm in the midst of drinking a 12 oz. coca-cola from an aluminum can. the taste is absolutely perfect. it's easily the best coca-cola i've had in years. i can't explain why it's so good. i think it's because i just had a good slice of pizza and i still have a bit of the flour on my hands and inbetween my fingers. my taste buds are ready for something sharp and refreshing and this dust on my fingers sort of removes me from the work in front of me. and then i sip from that can. it's hot outside and i think about the cold soda i'm drinking. it just puts me in a happy mood and reminds me of when i used to travel decades ago and stop at various welcome centers that greeted visitors with small cups of pepsi (i think it was always pepsi when i was traveling). that splash of soda is just that unexpected thrill to the afternoon. and there's something about the metal-ness of the can that makes this soda taste much better than if it had been delivered to my lips via plastic.

losing hurts. the neuticles placed second in monday night's Dr. Fact's Night of Fifty questions. the raelettes beat us by one point. had we selected belmont as the oldest race of the triple crown instead of the preakness, we could've gone for the tie breaking question. there were a lot of little moments like this. and i should've listened to jim regarding the architect of some ny building. saying i was 90% sure, then 80% sure then 70% sure the answer was I.M. Pei was funny at the time. but it's not so funny now. and just who were the raelettes? dan, sujan, mooney and dave nelson were the dark horse of a team making their first appearance at buttermilk for the trivia. and they showed that they've got brains, too. everyone had a fun time, i think. sparkle motion didn't compete due to various reasons, but a member or two of that formerly great team did form a new group and capture third place. i'm counting on youthlarge to have a few photos sometime tomorrow.

it's the second monday of the month and that means it's trivia night at buttermilk. jamie, kaci, jim and i will be there tonight to try to win back the crown at DR. FACT'S NIGHT OF FIFTY QUESTIONS. friends have talked about forming teams to try to knock us out of the top three. will this be the month that someone steps up to the challenge? here's the scoop about why we may or may not be beatable tonight:

JAMIE is on "hiatus" from his blog (meaning that his brain can no longer multitask).

why you should be worried: he still keeps posting every day. it seems as though the "hiatus" comment was just a fake.

KACI can think of nothing but roller skating the night before her wedding. i can't blame her for this.

why you should be worried: her familiarty with roller rinks says that question from the late 70's to the mid-80's will be no problem for her "couples skate" focused brain.

JIM is too obsessed with lars von trier to think about anything other than obscure european films.

why you should be worried: if 25% of the questions deal with obscure european films you're going to be so pissed that you skipped going to film forum last month.

I am in my own little world of semi-ridiculous pipe dreams. the lure to create my own mini-television empire over the internet is a clear sign that i've lost all sanity. double check every answer i give.

why you should be worried: I AM A COMPLETE WILDCARD. it's possible that i'll magically know the answers to 70% of the questions.

i couldn't be happier! the tv talk just won't stop. i got into work today and received an email from my friend phil who lives in dc. he's part of jamie's crew that travels to the outer banks every memorial day weekend. i don't think either of us went this year. i hope everyone goes next year, though. anyway, phil read jon's 2004 tv season recap and felt like a few shows were overlooked. phil sent me a list of his thoughts and i now post them for your reading and recording enjoyment.

It's no surprise that this show garners top ratings year after year � it's fucking funny! Since the show has been around a while, the characters are established and the cast plays them to perfection. It is dysfunctional-family-situational-comedy at its finest. End of story!

Was Phil still asleep when he wrote this? EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND? I've never seen an episode. Phil, I'm going to watch one episode that airs in syndication and it better be "fucking funny." Or else.

i haven't posted photos from this past weekend's wedding of chris and mary. i'm not that on the ball. i took a lot of photos. most of them are sort of blurry and contain a fair amount of "red eye." i had a great time, though. i also failed to get a photo of myself in my suit. i think a few people took photos of cicadas crawlling up my leg (and/or ass) and the back of my neck. i would like to see those photos as i think they'll help me pass the first round of auditions for "fear factor." (and, yes, mentioning fear factor and cicadas in the same story is a blatant steal from a story dan told at the wedding)

if you took a bunch of photos at the wedding and are planning to post them on the web (shutterfly, ofoto, fotolog, wherever) let me know so i can link to them from the photos i post. if you're not doing that and you've still got a few photos worth sharing, email them to me - marc (at) balgavy.com and i'll post them as part of the big wrap up from this past weekend.
