computers are hard
i've spent much of my evening trying to get into this whole
i don't use itunes. until yesterday, i'd always synched my ipod to the music on my computer through musicmatch jukebox (vers. 7.5). yesterday i download ephpod in order to remove some of the tracks from my completely full 15 gig ipod. that took a bit of time but wasn't too tough to figure out.
tonight i checked out wnyc's podcasting page and learned that i needed to download ipodder. a helpful piece of software. who knew that podcasting needed an additional piece of software? i guess i've heard that itunes is going to be podcast enabled soon. do people really go through all this? who are those people? did i make this whole thing way too complex for myself?
i think i've got things set up to some degree. i want to keep using musicmatch as my default music player, but it's got too many songs in it to start synching it to my ipod. i guess i'll have to start adding music through ephpod? right now i've got ephpod synching with podcast files only. i feel like there are so many little things i've got to figure out. argh!
why do i feel like i should've figured this stuff out a year ago?
Posted by marc@balgavy.com at June 28, 2005 12:46 AMwhy do you use musicmatch as opposed to itunes? even when i had a dell player, i had to use windows media player instead of musicmatch. musicmatch crashed my computer every time i tried to use it.
Posted by: erica at June 28, 2005 03:36 PMi feel like i have more control with musicmatch. when i tried itunes a year or two ago it was too hard to figure out. the easy stuff was easy to figure out, but that was all i could do. i felt like it didn't offer all the controllable features musicmatch has. maybe itunes has changed, but i'm reluctant to switch because un-installing it is a pain.
Posted by: marc b. at June 28, 2005 07:54 PMitunes just launched a whole podcasting page that makes it really easy to subscribe and listen to podcasts - I just used it for the first time this morning. It might be worth it to make the switch.
Posted by: mas at June 29, 2005 03:48 PMafter reading erica's comment above, i started searching the internet for someone to put into words what it is i don't like about itunes. on one message board someone mentioned that the wish ipods would have a way to just list the bands in your music collection...with a little box to drop down the actual songs. that's the way music match does it, and i like it quite a bit. does itunes have this yet? if it does, i'll think about making the switch.
