travel
i'm headed to louisville, ky a week from thursday. i'll be returning to new york a few days later (sunday). during that time it is unlikely that i will be posting new material to this blog, or the greater balgavy.com as a whole.
Posted by marc@balgavy.com at November 1, 2004 01:28 PMthis is like an out-of-office reply. amazing!
are you going for research for a possible move? or are you just going to see the famed kfc museum?
Posted by: crispin at November 1, 2004 02:21 PMand how is this different from a normal 4-day period at Balgavy headquarters?

Posted by: mas at November 1, 2004 04:35 PMi've got over a week to prepare. anyone with any ideas for things to occupy my time, please suggest them. either my time between now and then or during my trip. obviously, i will not be taking "update my website" as a sensible use of my time.
Posted by: marc at November 1, 2004 05:11 PMi've got suggestions-- i was there about a month ago and did some pretty extensive research about what to do. bars and restaurants like crazy along bardstown road. that's also where ear-x-tasy, the cool record store, is. the neighborhood, which is called the highlands, is generally a cool place to walk around. and food? lynn's paradise cafe (984 Barret Ave; www.lynnsparadisecafe.com) and Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen (2525 Bardstown Road). The latter was the site of another two dessert outing--oreo cookie ice cream pie and then a slice of cherry pie with vanilla ice cream. yum!
also went to the kentucky derby museum, which was kind of cool but i wouldn't go out of my way unless you're horse crazy. downtown/4th street is a tourist nightmare with a lucky strike, hard rock cafe and a maker's mark bar.
did you want this in an email? apologies to everyone else.
