all in the family
losing hurts. the neuticles placed second in monday night's Dr. Fact's Night of Fifty questions. the raelettes beat us by one point. had we selected belmont as the oldest race of the triple crown instead of the preakness, we could've gone for the tie breaking question. there were a lot of little moments like this. and i should've listened to jim regarding the architect of some ny building. saying i was 90% sure, then 80% sure then 70% sure the answer was I.M. Pei was funny at the time. but it's not so funny now. and just who were the raelettes? dan, sujan, mooney and dave nelson were the dark horse of a team making their first appearance at buttermilk for the trivia. and they showed that they've got brains, too. everyone had a fun time, i think. sparkle motion didn't compete due to various reasons, but a member or two of that formerly great team did form a new group and capture third place. i'm counting on youthlarge to have a few photos sometime tomorrow.
UPDATE (6/16/04): a recap and PHOTOS from youthlarge are now online

Posted by: Ray Charles at June 15, 2004 09:03 AMThat sounds suspiciously like female Raelians to me. They had help from aliens and clones and stuff.
Posted by: Kathy at June 15, 2004 10:45 AMI backed you up on I.M. Pei. Even though I wrote the right answer on my paper, I didn't advocate for it. That is no one's fault but mine. Also, I.M. Pei has designed about half of the buildings in the world by now, so he's always a good bet when you're not sure. I am maddest at myself about not remembering that Schumer lives on Prospect Park West.
Posted by: Jim at June 15, 2004 11:40 AMMarc, does this mean you missed North Shore???
Posted by: kfan at June 15, 2004 12:43 PMit just means i haven't watched North Shore yet. i recorded it last night and plan to watch tonight. i read a review yesterday that seemed to indicate it wasn't so good. what do you think? should i watch the first episode and then give up on it?
Posted by: marc at June 15, 2004 12:48 PMi'm ready to retire from the trivia circuit. it was too much anxiety for me.
we had a bunch of near misses too. i'm still upset with myself for not pushing the RC cola answer. dan is torn up over changing mississippi to texas at the last possible second.
p.s. anyone know how much did those shots cost last night? our take dropped from $50 something to $40 something each. yowza.
Posted by: raelette 1 at June 15, 2004 12:57 PMmy feelings on north shore were that it kind of blew, but i've been wrong about this stuff before. i'll probably watch next week though, because haley from oc will be on. love the haley.
Posted by: kfan at June 15, 2004 02:25 PMThe shots cost each Raelette twelve bucks (eight shots at $5 per, plus $1 tip).
Posted by: Dave Nelson at June 16, 2004 09:29 AMthe consolation shots were appreciated. i enjoyed each and every sip (not that it was sipped, but you know what i mean). when the raelettes come in second next month, we will happily purchase a shot for each of them.
Posted by: marc at June 16, 2004 11:48 AMif we come in second next month, there will be no excuses like we didn't have a seat or that we were planning a wedding. there will be no accusations that all the right answers were coming from just one team member. there will be arguing amongst the team about who should have answered what correctly.
just smiles that we did well and had a good time. that is all.
Posted by: dan at June 16, 2004 04:09 PMman, you guys are all a bunch of sore losers
Posted by: neuticle squasher at June 16, 2004 04:41 PMthere should be a not in the next to last sentence of my last statement.
it should read that there won't be any arguing amongst team members about who screwed up the most.
No Neuticle has ever accused another of screwing up. We may second guess ourselves, but we always stand by our teammates. So there, Raelettes.
