all i do is talk

the new day 17 musings are now posted at bears will attack. they got a lot of submissions this month. i wrote something but it didn't make the cut and because there's very little that i've got to write about, i'll post it here:

I couldn’t stop talking about Matt Kennedy Gould, television’s Joe Schmo. I have no idea how we got onto the topic but as Friday night became Saturday morning my roommate and I excitedly traded sentences about why Joe Schmo was amazing TV. The tackiness of the show mixed with the enthusiasm of the participants and the meta-reality commentary was something we couldn’t have used more energy describing. We left the bar early Saturday morning knowing we’d convinced two of our friends that they missed the best thing that happened on television last year. April 17th should officially become Matt Kennedy Gould day. That guy is the nicest man to ever grace basic cable.

On Saturday night I went to a party with the two friends I thought I’d converted. Neither mentioned the show. Their lack of appreciation left me saddened and depressed.

sorry, i guess i was distracted by the real-life mating rituals and the tea-tree toothpicks. do you think if we took a trip to the Museum of Radio and TV, we could catch some episodes?

As curator and publisher of Day 17, I can attest to the fact that the non-posting of your submission had almost nothing to do with the quality of the submission, and everything to do with timing, and randomness, and so on.

ooh, i can attest to the quality of my submission. it's rather sub-par. yet, the topic it dealt with is very much an observation of the kinds of conversations that get me excited on a day to day basis. nice job with day 17, by the way. i hope you keep it going for a long time.

(how can i distract kfan?)

did you see the most recent episode of ALIAS? what'd you think about THE PASSENGER?

Posted by: marc at April 21, 2004 04:59 PM

not true. i've also seen/heard you do thing following: eat cookies, burp, giggle like a schoolgirl when one of your fantasy players hits a homerun, insult me, dip popcorn into coke, smoke, fidget with your mustache, cry when you're accidentally given cheese on your burger, water the plants, clean the bathroom when guests are coming over.

hi marc up there. yes of course i saw alias and i liked the episode very much. jack is the best. i love it when he kills people and then brings them back to life. also this episode convinced me to stop reading spoilers online because i want to be surprised more often.

i'm not sure about the addition of a sister. i didn't like it on buffy, just like i didn't like cousin oliver on the brady bunch.
