the orange soda taste test
One month ago Jamie and Kaci arrived at balgavy.com headquarters with armloads of orange soda. Jeremy was visiting from Vermont and Jim had stopped by for the evening's big taste test. The sodas were arranged, the little plastic cups were filled and the drinking began!
Jamie has the full scoop on February's ORANGE SODA TASTE TEST.

Posted by: kfan at March 16, 2004 09:30 AMwasn't dan there? where's the photo of him, balgs?
Posted by: hong at March 16, 2004 12:04 PMI am totally amazed at how many different words you came up with to describe the different flavors. That is the hardest part about writing about beverages, I think. Avoiding "crisp" and "refreshing."
Posted by: kfan at March 16, 2004 01:02 PMhey jamie, did you make note of who said what? did we accidentally get drunk, cause i don't remember who said any of these comments.
Posted by: hong at March 16, 2004 03:04 PMFanta in a bottle from Mexico is my absolute favorite. I'm jealous that I wasn't there to partake in the Orange Soda Taste Test :(
Posted by: Amie P. at March 16, 2004 06:16 PMall those quotes are pretty much verbatim. i didn't note who said them but i know that Marc was highly represented among the "pulled quotes".
i don't think we were drunk, but then we showed up a little late so who knows what y'all had been up to previously.
Posted by: jamie at March 16, 2004 06:16 PMthis story made me feel homesick. but where's the boylan's? they definitely have the best orange soda out there (and yes, i'm feeling a little bit like one of those crazy Entertainment Weekly letter writers: "How could you forget Keifer Sutherland on your sexiest men on tv list?")
Posted by: amy at March 17, 2004 11:06 AMmmm....boylans. glaring omission, but oh well. i tried their cane sugar cola recently and it was good. i do love all their tastes. black cherry. ginger ales. root beers.
Posted by: hong at March 17, 2004 11:30 AMbest orange soda taste test ever.
Posted by: alex at March 17, 2004 02:02 PMPut me in the Orangina crowd. Seltzer makes anything better.
If you like Fanta, I recommend Fanta Limon, which when mixed with bad whiskey goes down a little too smooth.
Posted by: jake at March 17, 2004 06:58 PMI haven't had orange soda in ages, yet now I am craving some.
Posted by: Drew at March 18, 2004 06:20 PMIs there a reason why no diet soda was included in the taste test? I think you're alienating a good portion of your reading audience. Otherwise, a very enjoyable read. I think next time you do a taste test on adolenscent drinks you should rent out the party room at the White Oak Bowling Alley.
PS - I'd love to be included in the next obscure food taste test - even if it has to be by proxy.
PSS - Jamie, I think you found your nitch. Just think, you could be the next Marc Summers!
Posted by: Rob at March 26, 2004 10:20 AMFanta was the orange soda of choice during my childhood. i'm particularly fond of it to this day.
Posted by: Bowles at April 3, 2004 10:32 AMWho loves orange soda!? I do! i do! i do oo!
Posted by: Kenyg0324 at April 7, 2004 08:13 PMWho likes orange soda....Me likes orange soda. Is it true....? Mmmm hmmmmm. Hahaha. Seriously yes I do like orange soda, but I have tasted of some which were I guess had a watered-down taste and some which I had an I-have-no-idea taste. I do like sunkist, Minutemaid, Crush orange sodas, just if anyone cares...these I recommend.
Posted by: Espella@hotmail.com at May 11, 2004 10:41 PMi am doing a science fair project containing sunkist can you give me some more info on sunkist as soon as possible.
