Posted by marc@balgavy.com at February 3, 2004 11:29 PMWhat's even more shocking is that City of God was actually Brazil's official entry for the Best Foreign Film Oscar LAST year, but didn't get nominated. I learned that on Charlie Rose from some fancy magazine's film critic. Hopefully it's accurate. So much of my knowledge is not factually verified. I am a tool of the mass media. Or maybe just a tool. (Does Charlie Rose count as mass media?)

Posted by: marc at February 5, 2004 06:07 PMIt seems kind of weird that it could be eligible at all in two different years. But who am I to question the arcane workings of the mysterious Academy. Also, I'm happy that it's now getting the recognition it deserves. City of God, I mean.
