more questionable sporting fashion

watching Fox Sports World the other night, i came across two new entrants in the ugliest uniform contest being sported by Toulouse (lavender) and Caen (striped) of France's Ligue 1. isn't France a country full of designers? can't somebody do something about these? and while the advertising certainly isn't helping the cause, i don't know that it's necessarily making it worse.

the lavender appears to be the result of trying to mix the colors on the French flag into one. perhaps they found the color to be soothing to the point where opponents put up less effort (or simply nauseating). the stripes, meanwhile, can be used to create disorienting optical illusions sure to have the opposing team suffering from vertigo before half time.

this sounds like a new challenge for Project Runway part deux!

The lavender is grim, I'll grant you. Fiorentina used to rock the mauve strip as well, and it didn't work for them either.

I don't mind the blue/red stripes. Plus, Lion bars are dope--especially if you put them in the freezer for half an hour first.....mmmmm.

and what about the contestants in the lingerie bowl? ladies, lace just doesn't wick!

My home team back in England, the (not so) mighty Norwich City, spent a couple of seasons in the eary nineties playing in the "omlette vomit" uniform, as pictured here: http://www.footballnotmuggybonehead.com/shirtgallery/uefa/england/norwich_city/catalogue/Nowich%20CIty%2092-93%20H%20xl%20290233.jpg

I henceforth nominate the above for at least an honorable mention.

those Norwich jerseys are certainly hideous. perhaps i should create some rudimentary uniform hall of shame to put all of this horribleness on display.

and by the way, nice win on Saturday. i watched from just around when they equalized at 2-2 and the game winner was lovely.

Are you sure the game winner wasn't thoughtful?

I'm admittedly color blind, but the Caen shirt looks kinda Barcelona-esque.

they are similar, i'll give you that, but the colors are much more vibrant/bordering on day-glo and they give me a headache just looking at them.
