4 (years) dead in O-hi-o
i haven't been able to come up with anything that doesn't make me sound smarmy, self-righteous, elitist or all of the above. and really, the whole thing is just too sad for words. i'll be talking about anything else as much as possible for the next 4 years.

Okay, here is what I am thinking for options:
Toronto
Vancouver
Montreal
Halifax
Yukon Territory
Any input appreciated.

I suggest alcohol. I'm going to get drunk during my lunch hour and then maintain a good buzz for the next four years.

I vote for Vancouver. I've never been to the city of Vancouver but spent a few days in the nearby Gulf Islands (the Canadian half of the San Juan Islands) and it was gorgeous there. Plus, I've always wanted to ski at Whistler.

Vancouver is rad, and not nearly as cold as any of those other places.

maybe we can all be considered political refugees? that might make the expatriation process a bit simpler. Iraq might not be bad - i hear democracy is flourishing over there.

It just sucks. (but I do have real estate connections in eastern england, it's a liberal environment with a moderate climate)

My idea was this: Let's disunite middle America. We can build the Great Wall of Missouri. The red states can then live with their decision and we can live with ours.

I have never had a feeling of dread like this before.
When I look at all the gay marriage bans passing and know that anti-gay bigotry played a huge role in Bush's victory, it makes me glad that I live in New York surrounded by intelligent, like-minded people. And of course there are about a hundred other reasons I'm very happy that I live in NYC/Brooklyn.
But because of Bush's clumsy foreign policy and inept approach to "homeland" security, I'm now exponentially more nervous about the city being the target of future terrorist attacks. So although I love living in this city, I have to be afraid too. I don't know if it's worth it.
Fuck all this talk about "unity." We are fundamentally different from those people. That is not going to change. Something drastic has to happen, like everyone who lives in the northeast spontaneously calling for secession, or I might have to get the hell out of this country.
Maybe we can have three new nations: Northeast America, Great Lakesiana, and West Coast Land.

John Kerry would ask the UN if he could go to the bathroom. Not just number 2, but number 1 as well! Is answering to an organization who won't go to war because they would have no where to sell their spoiled food really an enlightened solution? Bush rocks! Does anyone else think Jon Stewart is getting a little too big for his britches? I think he's very funny, and I used to like his subtle humor - but he's just so over the top with his Bush bashing and its starting to wear a little thin. I'm switching to Dennis Miller instead for my swarmy political pot shots.
Is there anything more pointless than arguing politics on a blog?
