cloud nine or seventh level
between the potentially heartbreaking Game 7 scheduled for Sunday and the potentially heartbreaking election scheduled for Tuesday, the mood at t.s.o.a. headquarters in the coming weeks is going to be highly dependent on events outside of our control. the best case scenario is unadulterated glee pushing us right through the holiday season (which has not started yet, i don't care what Ben Affleck says). the worst case scenario has the Fates piling it on with a serious case of Seasonal Affective Disorder lasting until May.
in our favor, mas over at Handwashings was kind enough to send one of the champagne corks from the Sox' ALCS victory celebration which has served as a serious good luck charm thus far.

Our anniversary is November 3. Hopefully it's a celebration, but we're preparing for a potential wake. I'll be drunk no matter what.

Here's hoping that none of us are hit with Seasonal Afflecktive Disorder.

So Suppan messed up and did not go home when he should have, and that one tactical mistake has dominated the discourse for the past half hour, with Buck and McCarver seemingly talking about nothing else and many glimpses being shown of Suppan in the dugout, and LaRussa talking to Oquendo, and replays of the fateful scramble back to third base. It's the story of the night.
I just have to say that I have the most massive crush ever on Suppan. Not only is he unbelievably handsome and studly, but I watched a video replay of his press conference from yesterday on espn.com and he seems like the classiest, most down-to-earth and nicest guy who ever lived. I am only slightly exaggerating.
He had nothing but positive and appreciative things to say about the Red Sox and his former teammates, except when he slyly joked that "yes, they are all idiots."
Tony LaRussa said that he hoped Jeff was not too upset with himself and that he would be able to concentrate on his pitching so they could win (that was a paraphrase). Sounds to me a good argument for why pitchers shouldn't hit.
It's now 3-0 Red Sox, which is bad for Suppan as a pitcher but good for him in that if Boston keeps or extends this lead, no one can blame his baserunning goofup for the Cardinals' loss. But losing as the pitcher might be just as demoralizing anyway. Or more so, probably.
Okay, now it is 4-0 and Suppan is gone. The psychological effect of his messing up is being suggested as a cause of his giving up more hits. I feel for the guy. Even though I am rooting against his team and all.
Hey, you guys might have to let me be in your fantasy league next year. I think I might be starting to turn into a real fan here. It beats obsessing over politics. No matter who wins next week, I am so over that.
My old landlord from '96-'97 was just on TV again. He is in this Bank of America commercial about loans for homes in sketchy neighborhoods. He is a banker. Not a resident of a sketchy neighborhood. Okay, signing off now.

Have faith, APES, have faith. All will be right in the world, Massholes will persevere in both cases :)

I'm with Claire on this one. In the heat of battle let's join swords and make one last dash, one final fling, a lunge towards victory. Now is the time. I had considered a trade off, RedSox win for a Bush Victory or perhaps a Cards win for a Kerry victory. I'm over that now. I want both. I can have both!

I was watching the game alone at home. I guess I was feeling lonely and isolated. Also, I was maybe feeling a need to release some pent-up writing urges from not having my own blog anymore. But yeah, it is true that I am weird.

sitting with marc and alex during the yankees/sox series i wondered aloud what an awful world it would be if bush and the yankees won. at least, no matter what, we will not suffer that fate.
