3600?
at first i resisted the urge to link to this story about the Olsen Twins, but this passage just stuck in my brain:
Type "Olsen twins countdown" into Google and you'll find 3,600 sites that count the days, hours, minutes and seconds until June 13, when the Olsens turn 18 and will be legal to vote - not to mention have sex or pose for Playboy.
"The buzz on this has been building for five years," says Bill Doty, who runs a countdown clock on his Web site, www.brokennewz.com. "It's going to be a big day for a lot of guys.
what the hell is wrong with people? how will that constitute a "big day" for guys? are they all counting down so they don't have to feel dirty when they masturbate to them anymore? i don't know if i feel worse about being a guy or about being a citizen of a country where reaching the age of consent is likened to the opening of deer season ("i'm gonna bag me some twins!"). i hope they all choke on their Coors Lights.
(thanks to Claire for the link)

and what is the deal with the current twin obsession in this country? is incest really that enticing?

Aww, let them have their fantasy. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to counting the days until my chance encounter in a jungle mountain redoubt with Angelina Jolie.

I need to revisit this, because it's bugging me that this seems to be bugging you. Is it the fact that these guys made these leering, wink-wink comments in print (which I admit, makes them dopes), or that they're having these thoughts in the first place? I don't think even these guys are under any impression that they acutally will have sex with the Olsen twins now that they can legally do so. It's just a fantasy. We all have fantasies, and there are a lot freakier, creepier and more deviant ones than doing it with 18-year-old twins. And they're hardly exclusive to the U.S.

Here's what I don't understand: the Olsen twins are UGLY. Why the hell is anyone fanstasizing about these blonde-haired monkeys to begin with? So, so simian.
Jeremy, you may one day be nostalgic for the current state of disturbing, way-more-inappropriate-than-Janet Jackson's boob Coor's twin commercials. This whole "twins/triplets/army of identical mannequins" sexual thing is going to get much worse once cloning becomes commonplace.

I have to admit that I have always completely despised anyone who had anything to do with Full House. In fact, I'm more up in arms over Full House being on the air as long as it was than I am the Olsen twins phenomenon. But seriously, at 17, should they sell the sex-with-underage-twins angle as much as they do? The image they present to the press and the public plays a role in the 3600.
The surname Olsen makes me think there's a chance they're Mormons.

now jim, don't go besmirching clones on behalf. the twins/triplets/dodecahuplets fantasy is weird and i don't quite understand it but clones...that's a future i can look forward to.

Aw, Jamie, don't feel bad about being a guy! Yes, most suck but it's nice to know there's good guys out there like you :) Hope you and Kaci are having a lovely ride home...

Dave, you're right that people's fantasies can get a lot sicker, bizarre, etc, than this. i have no problem with that - whatever people want to think about is fine by me. what got to me was how much this scenario reminded me of that movie "Kids" where one of the main characters only wants to have sex with young virgins. total creepshow. all these Olsen "admirers" just veer too closely to sexual predator territory. throw in an incest sidebar with a touch of pedophilia and you get a pretty gross concoction.
Claire - thanks. The ride home actually was a huge pain in the ass, but that's a story for another day.
